Common Merganser just landed!

This is my first decent sighing of a Common merganser! A difficult location with fencing blocking most of the views, we found a small window to shoot through.

Such a superb looking male, in prime colours, the female is also brilliant. Hoping to try again soon.

Taken with the crop mode on the camera, and the 1.4 Teleconverter, so lots of reach, and also a 50% + crop in post-processing! 1260 mm of reach. Gitzo tripod and Gitzo head.
