Thanks to my nephew Brian Koudys, a couple of my old film cameras have returned home! New batteries, and a use wide-angle lens for one of them, and they are good as new! I have just a little cleaning that needs be done.
Thanks Brian! What a thrill to be messing around with these old cameras, so I am preparing to buy some film, and give them a go!
I bought the FTb around 42 years ago in Toronto, with Brian's cousin George Coker helping me make a deal., that alone is a great memory. It was Brian's dad Marty Koudys (Canon F1 user) and my older brother Geoff Barlow (Canon FTb user) who got me going with photography back then. In fact, I bought my first camera before I bought my first car at 19!
Marty and Geoff were both keen photographers, Marty won a Canadian National award for one of his underwater photos, as he was a Scuba diver and had all the underwater gear for his F1. I still remember the photo he won the award with.
Both of them, two of the best brothers I could ever dream of, though Marty is my brother-in-law, I have known him since I was less then a year old.
Great memories., life is good.
Thanks again Brian! Imagine, Brian saved these 2 cameras all these years, knowing I would love to have them back some day. So much appreciated!
I am so lucky!
