Night, Land and City Scapes
Road trip!
We endured another 12-hour trip north for the stars.
We had little low-lying fog to contend with, so as we all know there is always a challenge.
The A7r4 was set to 4/3 ratio, and uncompressed raw. Looking back, I would have preferred 16/9 ratio for a full 9504 · 6336 pixel wide files. Not really a big difference, but since I always edit to 16/9 ratio, and the dimension size is actually bigger with this ratio.
With the 20 mm 1.8 lens, we can shoot shorter shutter speeds as low as 6 seconds. Most of my images are at 1600 ISO and 8 seconds, to keep the stars round, and the sensitivity low for less noise.
In post-processing, I did turn up the exposure a little, and adjust the white balance as the original image was to warm.
Maria and I love star photography, and we would love to take folks up for a workshop, if you are interested.
