Bugs and Macro
Read MoreImage taken June 8th, out shooting dragonflies with my friend Harry Hersh. A sunny, hot afternoon in the swamp, but we came home with a few cool images.
The Sony A9 was superb in tracking this beauty, despite the busy background of marsh reeds. It locked on perfectly, and gave me an 85% tack sharp success ratio.
At 4000 ISO, there was a lot of noise, and a difficult task to process this noise out in Photoshop. With a shatter speed of 1/4000 of a second, I was able to freeze the wing movement, and at f9 aperture, very nice depth of field, and sharpness, in fact, much, much sharper than I expected!
Shooting full frame on the A9 with no crop sensor, also setting the camera to uncompressed RAW files I think helps with cropping.
