Thirsty Wildebeests
We were working the Ndutu an area within the west side of the Ngorongoro conservation Area, and south of the Serengeti. Our camp is right alongside of the river, which has usually dried up to a small creek.
Here a huge herd of Wildebeests stopped by for a drink, and a rest. They are on the move to the southern locations of the Serengeti, tracking out of Kenya.
They stop here for what they call calving season. Adult females will drop their young and stay here to feed on the rich grasslands, which are prime eating with all the rains.
After a couple of months, the herds will circle west then north to continue the Great Migration.
Thanks for looking!
